Subway opens at University Hospital Southampton
Abstract
Subway has opened a new store at University Hospital Southampton, its ninth in partnership with Compass Group.

Greg Madigan, area development manager for Subway UK and Ireland, said: “It is great to see the new store open at University Hospital Southampton, increasing Compass Group's number of Subway stores and further growing our portfolio of stores in healthcare environments.

“Non-traditional locations are a key area of growth for the Subway brand - the simple operations involved in running a store and the convenience offer make it a perfect fit for these style locations."

Eight Subway stores are already in operation in Compass Group UK & Ireland managed hospitals and universities throughout the UK, including Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, Middlesex University and The University of Derby.

Steve Cenci, managing director of healthcare at Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: “Our feedback has shown that people welcome the familiarity of brands in a healthcare setting.

“Having a partner that is signed up to the UK’s Government’s Public Health Responsibility Deal and is delivering on the eight nutrition related pledges, ensures we are able to bring healthy choices to our customers.”

Compass has introduced a range of grab and go offer to meet consumer demand in the workplace, schools and hospitals.
