Students work together to produce new soft drink

25th Jul 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
The British Soft Drinks Association has published a Liquids mean life: Enterprise Challenge free resource pack for students to create a new soft drink.
Students will learn about the production and packaging of the product, decide on its cost and then devise a marketing campaign to sell the finished product. Pupils will also have the chance to discuss issues such as corporate social responsibility; sustainability; the environment; health and wellbeing; choice and convenience, and health and safety. Students will learn about the processes involved in producing a soft drink and discuss some of the careers available in the food and drink sector. Commenting on the free resource, Jill Ardagh, director general of the British Soft Drinks Association, said: "Providing students with an understanding of the business world and how it operates is invaluable. "This resource enables students to gain this knowledge by developing a product they are already familiar with and getting to grips with the skills involved in producing and marketing something that is consumed and enjoyed across the globe." The resource pack has already been pre-ordered by 400 teachers.
