Now in its 18th year, British Food Fortnight is the annual national food promotion that encourages organisations and communities to celebrate the food produced in the UK. Last year 1.5m meals using British produce were served during the fortnight at schools, universities, hospitals and care homes.
Jonathan Harvey-Barnes, senior business development chef at Essential Cuisine, said: “As a champion of working kitchens across the UK we’re passionate about British produce and proud of our heritage.
“Love British Food’s ethos very much chimes with our own and we’re excited to be working in partnership with such a fantastic organisation – one that does so much to promote the best of British.”
He said the company was a partner with the Craft Guild of Chefs, the Master Chefs of Great Britain and annual Skills for Chefs conference. It was also involved with the Adopt a School charity and its teams regularly visited schools to deliver cookery lessons promoting a healthy and balanced diet.
Alexia Robinson, founder of Love British Food and British Food Fortnight, added: “Changing times bring both challenges and opportunities for Britain's farmers and food producers and we are delighted to welcome Essential Cuisine to become a partner and join us to lead the way in celebrating and promoting British food.”
