Abstract
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is the big name from the culinary world that has been chosen to hand out the Organic Food Awards at this year's annual Soil Association Organic Food Festival in Bristol on 11 September.
Now in its 22nd year, the Soil Association Organic Food Awards are a showcase of the best organic food and drink products. They are designed to highlight the imaginative and successful ways in which individuals and companies are contributing to the renaissance in organic, seasonal and local food. Some 58 expert judges – including chefs, restaurateurs, food writers and nutritionists - were tasked with eating and drinking their way through more than 600 products in twelve categories at a four-day tasting marathon hosted at the Duke of Cambridge organic pub in London recently. Judging took the form of blind tasting with all products in all categories judged on taste, smell, texture and appearance. Fearnley-Whittingstall said: "It is a pleasure to be handing out the Organic Food Awards this year to such devoted and deserving producers. And of course most of all I look forward to sampling their fantastic produce." For a full list of winners visit: www.soilassociation.org/foodawards.aspx
