Abstract
Schoolchildren at seven schools in South Gloucester were going without a hot school lunch due to a staffing crisis, it was reported by BBC News.

The schools affected included Little Stoke Primary School, New Siblands School in Thornbury, Pathways Learning Centre, St Augustine's Primary School in Downend, St Andrew's Primary School in Cromhall, Tortworth VC Primary School and Wick CE VC Primary School.

The seven schools were unable to provide hot meals for pupils because of 23 staff vacancies. South Gloucestershire Council stated pupils were still getting the nutrition they needed as the schoolchildren still received cold food such as sandwiches.

According to BBC News Jayne Stansfield raised the issue at a South Gloucestershire Council cabinet meeting about what was being done to give children ‘the hot meal they expect’. Councillor Ben Burton said he hoped to get all schools ‘back to normal’ as soon as possible.
