Having launched earlier this year (March), the initiative was co-founded by packaging manufacturer, Huhtamaki, Gosport Borough Council and cup recycler, Simply Cups, to encourage recycling of used paper cups.
With two new recycling bins to be placed around St Vincent College, it will add ‘considerable’ visibility and ‘impetus’ to the scheme - bringing Gosport’s total unit count to eight (including Gosport Ferry Terminal, outside council offices, the leisure centre and within the library café.)
St Vincent deputy principal, Andy Grant, commented: “As a significant provider of education within the Gosport area, it’s fundamental for the college to demonstrate to students and the wider community our commitment to the environment.
“Joining the Gosport Paper Cup Recycling Scheme illustrates that key stakeholders need to work together, to create successful outcomes.
“It also expresses our aspiration for students to stand up and take action to improve the environment.”
