Abstract
SSP UK - the food and drink travel operator - has partnered with Italian drink brand Bottega to launch a Prosecco bar at Birmingham airport this week (March).

Specialising in fine Italian wine and food, the Venetian-style Bacaro bar will offer a broad selection of wine as well as an all-day menu, including breakfast, “traditional” finger food and a selection of dishes “popular with airport passengers but with an Italian twist.”

Simon Smith, SSP UK & Ireland chief executive, said: “SSP is delighted to be working with Bottega - a wonderful premium brand and a great addition to our portfolio.

“Now is definitely Prosecco’s time and this new bar is completely on trend. We are certain that it will be a fantastic addition for all of our customers at Birmingham Airport.”

Owner and managing director of Bottega, Sandro Bottega, added: “Bottega Prosecco Bar, which aims to promote and enhance the reputation of Italy in the enological and gastronomic fields, reflects the core values of Bottega SpA.

“At Bottega, we advocate the importance of a healthy lifestyle based on varied and unsophisticated food, which is innate in the Mediterranean diet. We also believe in the pairing of food and drink, which is why we have created our own food and wine combinations.

“I am particularly delighted to partner with SSP, whose knowledge and experience in the airport market and knowledge of the travelling consumer will help to ensure the success of this new venture.”

Marking the first Bottega Prosecco Bar in a UK airport and 11th worldwide, including the Seychelles, Abu Dhabi and Milan, acting commercial director of Birmingham Airport, Richard Gill said “it brings something very different to the choice of food and beverage within the airport, and will further ensure passengers have a great experience while travelling through Birmingham Airport.”
