SSP & HMS Host unveil outlets at Stansted Airport's terminal transformation
Abstract
Foodservice travel experts SSP and HMSHost have launched several F&B outlets as part of Stansted Airport’s £80m terminal transformation.

SSP partnered with Starbucks, Burger King, luxury bar Cabin and James Martin Kitche, the first grab and go concept by the celebrity chef. HMS Host partnered with Leon to launch their site at the airport.

Beth Brewster, MAG retail director, said: “Over 70 tenders were received for the 12 café, bar and restaurant units available as part of phase two of this multi-million pound development.

“Narrowing down the strong competition to deliver a menu that provided a wide variety of choice based on taste, appetite and budget for our passengers is one of the best headaches I’ve ever dealt with, and a scenario that clearly demonstrates the exciting step change taking place at Stansted with so many leading brands wanting to secure their involvement.”

Charlie Cornish, MAG chief executive, said: “When MAG acquired Stansted we set a clear vision to transform the terminal and improve its facilities. Having returned the airport to growth and once again made it the fastest major growing airport in the UK with nearly 21 million passengers using the airport each year, and passenger numbers up 25% in March alone, the timing for this £80 million investment in the terminal building couldn’t be timed better.”

The unveiling of the new food and beverage outlets completes phase two of the development, with the third and final phase due to be completed by the end of 2015 with the opening of the retail outlets.

The departure lounge of Terminal 2 has been extended by 60%, provides 70% more seating and all food and beverage outlets include flight departure screens to ensure passengers can dine at ease.

Stansted Airport is the third largest airport in London and 4th in the UK, serving 20 million passengers a year.
