Abstract
The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) is compiling London’s Top Climate Friendly Dishes – and it’s calling on the city’s chefs to take the opportunity to showcase their most sustainable menu items.

The list will be carefully chosen from the standout dishes submitted by London restaurants to the One Planet Plate campaign, presented by HSBC.

Juliane Caillouette-Noble, managing director of the SRA, said: “Diners don’t want a lecture when eating out, but they do want to know what sustainable food looks, smells and tastes like. For every restaurant that would like to be in Londoners’ little green book, this list is a must.”

One Planet Plates can be new dishes or existing customer favourites and must satisfy at least one sustainability criteria from the following:

  • Celebrate Local: use locally sourced, seasonal and non-intensively farmed produce
  • Waste no Food: rethink how food surplus or common by-products are used
  • Feature More Veg: shift the proportion of animal protein towards plant-based ingredients
  • Source Seafood Sustainably: protect the oceans by choosing fish from reliable stocks
  • Have a Low Carbon Footprint: cut use of natural resources from farm to fork

At the end of London Climate Action Week (25 June to 3 July) all the dishes, complete with recipes and an explanation of why they’re the chefs’ chosen One Planet Plate, will be on the website.

To be considered for London’s Top Climate Friendly Dishes for London Climate Action Week chefs should submit their One Planet Plate by 18 May or contact abigail@thesra.org.
