Abstract
Space Catering Equipment has announced that it’s the first company in its field to put its entire key team through the Certified Food Service Professional (CFSP) scheme.
Fourteen Space team members now have the CFSP qualification to their name, the most to date in any company in the UK. Mike Mellor, MD Space Catering Equipment said: "Our people are without a doubt our number one asset; impeccable customer service and total professionalism are a fundamental part of what we do on a daily basis. We handle projects of all sizes and complexity for clients and they need to know at the outset that they are dealing with a highly qualified, knowledgeable team. "This new industry accreditation provides our customers with that reassurance and is also rewarding for our individual team members to have their professionalism and levels of expertise more formally recognised." The industry specific qualification was introduced in 2008 by the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association (CESA) to help improve levels of professionalism in the sector, by creating a universally recognised and respected industry standard for knowledge and experience. It is open to anyone who has three or more years of management experience in the foodservice industry and comprises a detailed and structured syllabus covering twenty key elements ranging from an overview of the food service industry to detailed design consideration and equipment specification. Candidates must also study for and pass a comprehensive written test, attend seminars and demonstrate levels of experience, active involvement in the industry, and personal development as a result of completing the training and education programmes.
