Abstract
Eden Foodservice has been awarded a five-year contract by Interserve Education (the FM subcontractor to Pyramid Schools Southampton Ltd) at three PFI (Private Finance Initiative) schools in Southampton worth £400,000 per annum.
Under the agreement, Eden Foodservice will provide catering services for students at Cantell Maths and Computing College, Redbridge Community School and Woodlands Community School. The contract, awarded after a competitive tender process, will provide meals and snacks throughout the day including breakfast, mid-morning break and lunch. As part of the deal, Eden Foodservice is tasked with increasing the use of fresh ingredients and developing a range of food that encourages healthy eating, as well as looking at ways to improve the overall student experience. Almost 22 catering staff will transfer to Eden Foodservice under TUPE regulations safeguarding existing jobs and ensuring appropriate legislative compliance. This will also support the efficient transfer of the contract to Eden Foodservice and ensure some continuity at each school. Corinne Bonell, Commercial Manager at Interserve Education commented: "Eden Foodservice demonstrated their ability to provide high quality catering, which will ultimately enhance the service we offer. The company's knowledge and expertise means they were able to develop a solution that will improve every aspect of our catering operation." Simon James, Managing Director of Eden Foodservice commented: "The PFI school scheme was looking for solution that increased the overall food quality and eating experience provided to students. Our priority is to provide first-rate catering solutions to schools using fresh and local ingredients, whilst engaging with all stakeholders including pupils, teachers, parents and employees to promote healthy eating and boost uptake of school meals."
