The latest regional heat of LACA’s 2013 School Chef of the Year (SCoTY) competition has taken place, with Steve Spofford being named the winner of the South West regional heat and claiming one of 10 spots in the final.
Steve works for independent education sector contractor Pabulum at Worle Community College for North Somerset County Council and served up Free Range Chicken Layered Gateaux followed by Somerset Apple Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream to impress the judges.
Gemma Hall, who works for contractor Chartwells at Sir Robert Geoffreys VA C of E Primary School for Cornwall County Council won the regional award for Highly Commended Main Course with her Moroccan Inspired Chicken, Served with Lemon and Coriander Cous Cous and Spicy Fruit Bread.
The Highly Commended Dessert award went to Natasha Wilkes for her Zesty Lemon Meringue Roulade. She who works for Plymouth City Council’s Education Catering Services at Victoria Road Primary School.
The SCoTY 2013 final will take place on May 22nd at the Defence Services School, Worthy Down in Hampshire. The competition is sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional.
