Abstract
Electrolux Professional brand ambassador, Sophie Wright, helped get Southgate College and Enfield Council into the Christmas spirit with a culinary masterclass held at the college on Tuesday 8th December.
Sophie demonstrated how to prepare a number of festive creations in the kitchen and was on hand to answer questions. The 'School Feast' was a Christmas Q&A and demonstration session attended by the college principal, heads of department, students, school cooks and kitchen staff, as well as the assistant director (commissioning) of Enfield Council, Jennifer Hill.
After a networking session with Champagne and snacks, Sophie taught the group how to create exciting Christmas canapés that could be served at the college, or even prepared at home for festive parties and gatherings. The Q&A element helped to make the session both fun and informative. Jeanie Carvalho, head of curriculum, Southgate College, said: "It was a wonderful experience for our staff and students to meet Sophie and not only learn some great recipes in time for Christmas, but also to have the opportunity to really benefit from her expertise. I know that everyone who attended really enjoyed themselves and gained a lot from it." Jennifer Hill, assistant director (commissioning), Enfield Council, added: "We are pleased to be working with Southgate College to further develop the skills of the school catering workforce. These skills are important to promote healthy lifestyles amongst local children and young people."
