Solihull Catering Service is part of Solihull Council and provides school lunches for 70 primary schools across Solihull and Coventry.
With two seasonal menus a year, running a three-week rotation, pupils are offered a range of fresh, tasty and healthy meals, using locally sourced and high-quality ingredients.
The Mayor commented: “All the food looks delicious. There’s a good range of options to choose from and it's great to see the pupils tucking in and enjoying lunch together in such a friendly environment. It was a pleasure to share such a lovely meal with the pupils.”
Pupils have a daily choice of two main courses, including a vegetarian option and a dessert, salad bar, fruit and home baked bread all for £2.70.
Beverley Elliott, headteacher at Marston Green Infant Academy, added: “Providing pupils with hot nutritious meals at lunch time is such an important part of the school day. School meals play an important role in the well-being of pupils and helps improve their concentration and energy levels, as well as making sure they get the right nutrition in the middle of the day.”
