Abstract
The Soil Association is now accepting entries for its third annual Best of Organic Market (BOOM) Awards, celebrating the “very best” of organic food and drink.

With entries open until 28 February, Soil Association business development manager, Sarah Jupp, is calling on “any organic business to enter and give themselves a chance to be recognised as the best that organic has to offer.”

She added: “Our research shows that having organic on the menu – and really highlighting that it is there – can have a positive impact on a foodservice business.

“Diners are increasingly looking for high quality, sustainable ingredients and having organic on the menu gives them the reassurance that the food they are eating is food as it should be.”

As well as celebrating latest market happenings, the BOOM Awards recognise innovators shaping the future of food and farming, and businesses who provide exceptional organic eating out experiences, a commitment to sustainable sourcing, creative use of organic ingredients and flair in communicating about organic.

All voting will be carried out by a panel of independent judges, including this year’s ‘BOOMbassador’ Thomasina Miers - Masterchef winner and co-founder of Wahaca restaurant chain.

Miers said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Soil Association Certification to celebrate the best that the organic market has to offer, and I’m looking forward to seeing the people and businesses that are creating change within the food industry.

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Wahaca, and the organic movement’s commitment to creating a food system that produces high quality and sustainable food and drink fits neatly with our ambitions for the future of food.”
