Abstract
Natalie Bickford, Sodexo's HR director for UK and Ireland, has joined People 1st as the vice-chair, the sector skills council for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism.
The new role will be supporting the chair, David Fairhurst, McDonald's, chief people officer, Europe. Together with other members of the board, the team will continue to focus on developing world class qualifications in management and leadership, customer service and craft skills, and work to encourage investment of public funds for programmes that are needed and respected by the industry.
Commenting on her appointment, Bickford said: "People 1st is working on a number of exciting initiatives at the moment, and I am delighted to offer my support to this work as vice-chair of the board.
"This is a critical time for hospitality and tourism in the UK. Through initiatives such as Women 1st and the training and development programmes offered by People 1st, we have a real opportunity to raise skills levels across the sector. "As vice-chair, I am committed to working with the chairman, David Fairhurst, and the rest of the board to ensure that the industry continues to benefit from the work delivered by People 1st."
Brian Wisdom, chief executive of People 1st, added: "I am delighted that Natalie has agreed to become vice-chair of our board. Natalie has been actively involved in our work since her appointment as a trustee, chairing the hugely successful Women 1st initiative and providing valuable guidance on our other initiatives.
