Abstract
Hospitality company Sodexo has won a three-year contract with Swindon’s brand new secondary school, Great Western Academy (GWA), when it opens this September.

In addition to cleaning, washroom and pest control services, Sodexo will manage all catering, including breakfast, morning break and lunch.

With its modern school food and dining environment offer ’Food & Co by Sodexo,’ pupils will be served a choice of meals all in-line with the government’s school food standards.

Great Western Academy opens for the first time this new school year, and will continue to welcome children aged 11-18 until it reaches its maximum 1,200 students.

Principal Graham Davis said: “Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of our learners by setting the highest standards in everything that we do.

“This includes providing an excellent food service in a clean and vibrant environment.

“We were very impressed with Sodexo’s pupil-centered, insight-led approach and look forward to welcoming them to the team and enjoying its healthy and tasty food.”

‘Food & Co by Sodexo’ was developed after carrying out research on pupils aged 7-16, to  better understand ‘the type of food they like, how they would like to eat it, as well as their preferred dining environment and experience.’

The company is also working with GWA to implement its ‘Agents for Change’ programme, which will see pupils will work with the catering team to ‘drive service development.’

Sodexo UK and Ireland contract manager, Vanessa Mole, commented: “Sodexo is delighted to be working with Great Western Academy and excited to be introducing our new food offer, Food & Co. by Sodexo, to the school.

“Our core values are strongly aligned and this provides us with a really strong foundation from which to build a partnership.”

This is Sodexo’s second Swindon-based contract win of late, and means that as of September, it will now be serving over 4,000 school meals in the area every day.
