Abstract
Global services company, Sodexo, has raised £1,000 in partnership with its client Oasis Academies in support of the relief efforts for cyclone-hit Mozambique.

In the run up to World Health Day in April, Sodexo worked with the Oasis schools where it provides catering services and pledged to donate 20p for every hot meal sold. Across 31 secondary and 13 primary schools, over 3,000 meals were sold.

Mozambique has suffered devastating damages from two cyclones that hit the county in March and April this year. Part of Oasis Academies’ global work is to build inclusive communities all over the world, and in Mozambique it delivers a number of programmes from water sanitising, livelihood improvement programmes through to creation of a grinding mill social enterprise.

Following the cyclones, Oasis has been providing emergency assistance to local people and communities and working with them to help them start rebuilding their lives through practical and emotional support. The funds raised by Sodexo will go towards this work.

Sodexo teams at the individual schools extended their fundraising efforts to include cake sales and raffles which helped contribute £200 to the total amount raised.

Philip Beaumont, national director of Academies at Oasis Community Learning, said: “We are exceptionally grateful of Sodexo for supporting Oasis Mozambique following the devastating cyclone a few weeks ago by pledging 20p for each hot meal sold as part of World Health Day 2019 which will enable important work to take place and help rebuild communities we serve in Mozambique.”
