Abstract
Sodexo Prestige & Events put on a sensory dining experience as part of a venue showcase event at the National Museum of Scotland.

The catering company set up a secret log cabin surrounded by an enchanted forest at the ‘Evening Extravaganza’ in Edinburgh, with participants blindfolded and provided with an audio-guide, to fully immerse them in the tasting journey.

Linzi McLaren, general manager, Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, said: “We wanted to create a fun and unique experience that guests would remember. By limiting their sight, we took participants out of their comfort zone and added an element of surprise, while the voice track triggered their imagination.

“Each ‘bite’ was created using nostalgic flavours with the aim of stimulating memories of childhood adventures.

“We received fantastic feedback from guests and it certainly proved that ‘drinks and canapes’ are best served with a twist.”

Bites of sticky glazed wild boar sausage, cheese on toast, and a rich chocolate-whisky truffle speckled with popping candy, were all served as part of the experience.
