Abstract
Twelve staff from catering and services provider Sodexo Northern Ireland abseiled down the Obel Tower, Ireland’s tallest building, to raise more than £2,000 for the NI Hospice, which provides specialist care to children, young people and adults with life-limiting illness.
The Belfast building is the tallest in the whole of Ireland, standing at 279 foot (85 metres).
Julie-Ann Agnew, Sodexo Northern Ireland’s charity champion organised the event, which the participants completed in just a few short minutes.
Group manager Nicola Thompson and business development manager Anne Magill both said that the best part for them was safely reaching the ground.
Thompson added: “It was the most beautiful sight ever and I never thought I would say that about gravel.”
Sodexo, one of Northern Ireland’s largest food and facilities management providers, manages on-site restaurants and a range of support services for clients in business, industry, education and healthcare. It employs approximately 500 people across 60 locations.
