Abstract
Tommy Davies, a Sodexo employee at Ysgol John Bright in Llandudno, has gained three health and safety certificates.
Tommy, a cleaner, has worked for Sodexo at Ysgol John Bright since 2004. He successfully completed a Diploma in Workplace Safety which covered a number of health and safety topics such as behaviour based safety, back safety and managing health and safety in schools. He also completed the ProTraining Health and Safety Awareness training. Objectives of the training course included accident reporting, risk assessments, first aid provision and fire safety. In addition, he studied for 30 hours and completed an online test to be awarded a 'Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)' certificate. His manager, Jackie McDermott, nominated him for Sodexo Education Employee of the Month for his efforts. Davies went on to win this award which is open to all Sodexo Education employees. Davies said: "I enjoy learning about health and safety and it is so important in the job I do and environment I work in. I'm pleased to have my certificates and very shocked to be named Employee of the Month." Jackie McDermott, Sodexo site manager at Ysgol John Bright, added: "Tommy always enjoys the health and safety training when we have training days. I'm really impressed with his dedication to ensuring his knowledge is up-to-speed for the job he does. "He chose to go one step further to learn more which I fully supported. I was so delighted with his commitment and he really deserved to win the Employee of the Month Award."
