Abstract
Sodexo, provider of quality of life services, has announced its intention to begin recruitment of the next batch of trainees looking to start a career in the food service industry.

The company took on its first group of ten promising individuals in January 2014 and they are due to graduate this year. Apprentices were assigned a work-based mentor and received ongoing support to help them in their field.

Sodexo were keen to grown their own talent from within and approached local organisation Hospitality Training to held deliver a modern apprenticeship programme with the objective that participants gain industry recognised qualifications whilst earning a wage.

Karen Black, general manager of Hospitality Training, said: “Hospitality Training has been delighted to support Sodexo’s first group of Modern Apprentices based within the Aberdeen operation.

“Key to the success of the programme - and the catering sector in the North East – is that as many employers as possible embrace the Modern Apprenticeship model, and really demonstrate their commitment to the people they employ.”

Sodexo has around 420,000 employees in 80 counties and 32,700 sites.
