Abstract
Caterer Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events is hosting a three-course fundraiser lunch at Hampden Park tomorrow (16 March) in celebration of ex-footballer, Bobby Brown’s, 95th birthday.

All proceeds will go to children’s charity Variety Scotland, which supports families and their children suffering from sickness, disability or disadvantage and is “a cause close to Bobby’s heart.”

As well as providing the chance for guests to meet the former international footballer and Scotland manager, the £50 p.p. tickets also includes a drinks reception and three-course lunch which will use quintessential Scottish ingredients.

Alan Fraser, past chairman at Variety Scotland, said: “Variety Scotland is hosting a very special day paying tribute to a true Scottish football legend, Bobby Brown, and how appropriate to host it at Hampden where Bobby had some of his greatest moments both as a player and manager.

“Recently Bobby said his proudest moment in football was playing against England in the Victory International at Hampden at the end of the Second World War.

“Having started his senior football career at Hampden, it’s truly amazing that over 70 years later, Variety Scotland will help him celebrate his 95th birthday at the home of Scottish football.”

Compèred by football commentator Chick Young, who will also host an auction and raffle, there will also be speeches from “sporting greats” including Tommy Docherty, Craig Brown and Eric Davidson on the day.

Craig Younger, general manager for Sodexo Sports and Leisure at Hampden Park Stadium, added: “It is a privilege to be able to pay tribute to Bobby Brown and create a memorable event for guests, the charity, and of course Bobby himself.

“We are honoured to have the opportunity to support Variety Scotland and celebrate the successful career and life of the football legend Bobby Brown at Hampden Park, a venue steeped in footballing history.”
