Abstract
Sodexo has partnered with the Flora team to host a Healthy Heart Day, designed to raise awareness of overall health.
Held at the Ministry of Defence barracks in Devon, one of Sodexo's client locations, the Flora Healthy Heart Day invited military personnel and employees to take part in a fifteen-minute health consultation. During the 15-minute session, those taking part had their cholesterol, body mass index and blood pressure measured. In addition they were also asked about their food consumption patterns, their general activity levels and other health indicators such as alcohol intake and smoking. The results were instant, and independent nurses were on hand to offer relevant advice to improve general health and wellbeing. Clare Logan, Flora brand manager explained more: "We are delighted to partner with Sodexo to help raise awareness of heart health across the MOD barracks. By educating the site's employees about healthy eating and lifestyles, we are helping Sodexo to give its customers the very best possible care." Phil Mitchell, regional catering manager at Sodexo, added that events like this improve customer service: "It is our responsibility as a caterer to give the best service, and a massive part of this is providing the education about health and wellbeing that they may not get elsewhere. We wanted the soldiers to realise that whilst they might be fighting fit on the outside, they may need some help to make sure their insides match up and that's where the Healthy Heart Day comes in."
