Abstract
Smart Group Ltd’s event caterer arm, Smart Hospitality, has won a brand new, two-year catering contract with Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for the Nursery Pavilion at Lord’s.

As the venue’s exclusive caterer, it will provide an all-day offering, including breakfast, a three-course lunch and afternoon tea, with dishes ranging from a sweet-cured bacon English muffin to baked duck eggs en cocotte with wild mushrooms and spinach and Cornish spring lamb with a mushroom quinoa salad.

Sticking to Smart Hospitality’s “commitment to sustainability and creative menu design,” the team will be led by executive head chef, David Ridgway.

Smart Group chief executive, Greg Lawson, commented: “Smart Hospitality is delighted to be selected as the official hospitality partner for the Nursery Pavilion at Lord’s, and trusted by MCC Club to deliver the exceptional catering that both they and their guests expect.

“The natural synergy of brand values between Smart Hospitality and MCC will provide the highest quality sporting and catering experiences for our guests.

“Smart Hospitality is increasing its sporting hospitality sites and the Nursery Pavilion at Lord’s is an exciting addition to our portfolio.”

The win builds on the company’s current portfolio of sporting events catering, including Royal Ascot, Henley Festival, Twickenham and the 2012 Olympic Hospitality Centre.

MCC commercial assistant secretary, Jon Robinson, added: “We are excited to be working with Smart Hospitality this season for the first time, and we welcome them to ‘The Home of Cricket.’

“The team at Smart brings a wealth of experience and innovation to our hospitality offering, and their approach is similar to that of MCC - focussing on providing the highest levels of customer service as well as producing fantastic menus using the finest ingredients.

“We are confident that our corporate hospitality guests in the Nursery Pavilion will be delighted with all aspects of the Smart experience.”
