The awards, run by the British Poultry Council, showcase 'innovation and excellence' from the past year across chicken, turkey and duck industries. Over 150 entries were received for the awards.
The highly contested Foodservice Operator of the Year and Retailer of the Year category will be awarded to the companies that are deemed to carry and promote the 'broadest and best' range of British poultry.
A panel of judges, all with a food background, will get together in July to taste their way through the entries. The judging panel includes Sheila Eggleston, food and drink editor at Cost Sector Catering; Lee Maycock, chef consultant and Nichola Palmer, food writer for Woman Magazine.
Richard Griffiths, chief executive of the British Poultry Council said: “These awards continue to be the biggest event in the poultry calendar. The huge number of entries is testament to the high standards in UK poultry in terms of innovative and quality. The awards is well deserved recognition for the standard of excellence achieved by farmers, producers and manufacturers.”
The third annual awards will be held at the Sheraton Grand Park Lane, London, on 19 September where the winners will be announced in front of over 250 guests.
