Sheffield Hallam University café awarded two star Food Made Good rating
Abstract
The Granary at Sheffield Hallam University has received a two star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association for its menu of healthy, ethical and sustainable meals.

The Food Made Good sustainability rating assesses restaurants and cafés like The Granary across everything they do, including its social and environmental sustainability too not just on the source of ingredients.

Jon Broadhurst, head of catering at Sheffield Hallam University, said: "We are pleased to have reached this accolade at our first attempt, and by working through the detailed plan, we will be looking to get the full three star rating next time around."

The café's healthy eating initiatives, including its campaign to encourage students to eat a healthy breakfast, as well as its vegetarian menus, were commended by the SRA’s assessors.

They also commended The Granary for its schemes to cut down its energy and water use, which is part of a university wide programme to reduce these by 30% by 2020.
