Scottish School Food Awards 2022 announces winners

The results for the inaugural Scottish School Food Awards, which took place at a ceremony at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, have been released.

The Scottish School Food Awards aim to ‘showcase and enhance the influence that healthier lifestyles can have on pupil productivity’. The Awards were created to improve standards of wellbeing, sustainability and school meals across the country.

The Awards are open to independent and local authority institutions, in addition to nurseries, contract caterers and foodservice suppliers. The Awards are judges by 14 experts from across the education, foodservice and technology sectors.

The winners include:

The Community Benefits Award: Kirkhope and Yarrow Primary Schools, Scottish Borders

The Sustainable School of the Year Award: Cullivoe Primary School, Shetland

The Well-being in Education Award: Gordonstoun, Moray

The Healthy Living Innovation Award: Glasgow City Council and Soil Association Scotland

The Foodservice Team of the Year Award: Barrhead High School, East Renfrewshire

The Student Chef of the Year Award: Phoebe Lawson, Mackie Academy, Stonehaven

The School Chef of the Year Award: Alistair MacDonald, Fettes College, Edinburgh

The Employee of the Year Award: Anja Fuglestad, Croy Primary School, Inverness

The Lifetime Excellence Award: Lesley Franklin, former head of George Heriot’s School, Edinburgh
