Abstract
The Scottish Labour Party has pledged to fund a breakfast club in every primary school in Scotland should it be elected.

The party’s manifesto reads: “As part of our proposals we will fund a breakfast club in every primary school in Scotland.

“This won’t just help more parents to access meaningful childcare so they can fully participate in the world of work - it will ensure more children start the day with a nutritious breakfast to get them ready for a day’s learning.”

Under the proposals, primary schools will be given annual funding averaging £6,500 for breakfast clubs and it would be up to schools to decide how to use the money.

The party has also pledged to remain committed to healthy school meals and ensuring they remain free for children in P1-P3 and will also extend the commitment to cover all 2-4 year olds who are receiving free early learning and childcare.

The Scottish Parliament election takes place on Thursday 5th May 2016.
