Abstract
Scotland’s Education Secretary John Swinney is expected to announce on Monday plans to ban sugary cereals from school breakfasts, according to The Herald.

The Scottish Sun notes that cereals such as Cheerios and Sugar Puffs would be swapped for Weetabix and corn flakes.

Fruit juices and smoothies may also be scrapped from school lunches in Scotland, according to The Herald.

Nicola Sturgeon has previously announced that she plans to halve child obesity in Scotland by 2030.

Speaking to Cost Sector Catering, a Weetabix spokesperson said: “At Weetabix, we’re really proud to help school children to get a good start to the day. Offering families a nutritious breakfast is top of our agenda. In fact, it’s the reason Weetabix was created more than 85 years ago.

"Weetabix Original, Weetabix Protein and Ready Brek all have green traffic lights on pack to make it easy for schools to make a healthy choice. Weetabix is low in sugar, salt and fat, and high in fibre."
