With the Scottish government consulting on the strategy’s proposals, other keynote speakers include: Aileen Campbell (minister for Public Health and Sport, The Scottish Government); Elspeth Macdonald (deputy chief executive of Food Standards Scotland); Sue Davies (chief policy advisor, Which?) as well as representatives from Advertising Practice, Food and Drink Federation Scotland, NHS Health Scotland and Starbucks Coffee.
The conference will also discuss the recently published draft diet and obesity strategy, and address its potential implications on the food and drink industry, health practitioners and consumers, including:
- Action to limit price promotion on food and drink products that are high in fat, salt and sugar (HFSS)
- Extending restrictions on the advertising of HFSS products to all programmes before the 9pm watershed
- Practical support for food manufacturers to reformulate their products
- Initiatives to encourage greater levels of physical activity
There will also be the opportunity for guests to engage with key policymakers and other interested parties throughout the event.
