School FEAST trained cooks to compete on live television cook-off

The event will take place as part of a new television series called Street Market Chefs, to be presented by Amanda Lamb. Jo Gore from Edlington St Mary's Primary, Doncaster, and Lisa Scriven from intake Primary School gained experience in cooking high-quality meals under pressure after qualifying at Doncaster's School FEAST Centre which is part of the national network led by the School Food Trust. During the filming, which took place on 6 August in the fish market in Doncaster, the cookery duo used fresh ingredients sourced from within the market and were joined by Mayor of Doncaster, Peter Davies who also formed part of the judging panel, as well as a public audience. School Food Trust director of delivery Linda Smith said: "We're delighted that Channel 5 has selected two of our School FEAST-trained cooks for their show. "Doncaster School FEAST is part of the only national network training caterers in the latest best practice and standards for high-quality school meals. "I have no doubt that their School FEAST training has shone through as producing high-quality meals under pressure is all in a day's work for them. Well done to Lisa and Jo in competing for the show." Davies said: "I am immensely proud of Doncaster's historic markets which are easily some of the best in the country. "I'm also proud that Doncaster College hosts the region's School FEAST centre, offering school cooks in our area the best training to provide our school children with tasty, nutritious meals." Street Market Chefs is due to be broadcasted on Channel 5 in September.
