ParentMail, a school-to-home communication and payments service, has made the process of paying for school meals easier in a new collaboration with PayPal.

As the first school online payments system to offer PayPal as a payments option, the 4.5 million parents using ParentMail +Pay can now simplify the process of their regular school dinner payments.

Parents can now pay dinner money, as well as for other school items, by bank transfer or with money held in their PayPal account. Increased security puts minds at ease by removing the need to provide credit or debit card information.

Mark Brant, PayPal UK, commented: “We are excited to work with ParentMail to provide parents with a more secure, convenient way to pay for school items. Parents are busier than ever, and PayPal is well placed to save them time by making it easier and faster to pay for school trips, school dinners and many other aspects of school life. PayPal has 19 million active accounts in the UK, so many of ParentMail’s 4.5 million parents will already be familiar with the benefits of PayPal.”

Martin Temple, payments director, ParentMail, added: “To be the first in the education sector to integrate with PayPal is an exciting step for ParentMail and we look forward to introducing this payments option to the 6,000+ schools that we work with. With the regularity and importance of school dinner payments by parents, working with PayPal means that we can provide a secure, streamlined option to make the process easier and more appealing for both parents, and consequently, schools.”
