Abstract
Eight school catering and chef managers with school catering specialist Palmer & Howells, who are based at independent schools across the south west of England, were recently presented with their certificates by leading local chef Josh Eggleton.

The managers, employed by Bristol-based independent contract caterers Palmer & Howells, recently achieved the Institute of Leadership and Management Level 3 accreditation. The certification recognises the development of their management skills.

The presentations took place at Thornbury Golf Club and key members of the contractor’s management team attended to applaud the hard work of the managers.

Lorraine Palmer, director of Palmer & Howells, said: “It is wonderful to recognise the achievements of these managers and we have all been delighted to meet Josh as he is such an inspirational chef.

“Since finishing the course they have become more confident in leading their teams and inspiring them to be the best they can be so that the food they provide is superb.

“Our clients have been very supportive during their training and have given us great feedback. Overall, the managers should be very proud of themselves.”

Eggleton, owner and head chef at Michelin starred The Pony & Trap in Chew Magna, said: “I’m delighted to present these certificates in recognition of the hard work that the managers do to ensure that the best food possible is served at their school.

“Having led a team of chefs from a young age I know that the job requires good management skills as well as a passion for food and it’s great that these managers now have both.”
