Abstract
State and independent sector education catering contractor Alliance in Partnership (AiP) has secured a contract with Birmingham’s only all-girls Catholic school.

St Paul’s Catholic Girls School has signed a three-year contract for AiP to supply its school meals, which was won via tender through the Litmus Partnership.

The contract is worth approximately £500,000 to the West Midlands-based caterer, with a further two-year option at the end of the contract.

Managing director David Weller said AiP would be introducing a new deli counter and ‘grab and go’ area along with a new menu range and a bean-to-cup coffee concept.

The contractor had already seen an increase in the daily take-up of hot meals during the lunchtime service since starting operations in February.

“We have seen an increase in daily sales from the start of the contract, in fact we were producing three times the amount of food within the first week than the team were previously used to producing.

“We are delighted to be working with the staff at St Paul’s and we look forward to developing our menu ranges, as well as introducing a new breakfast service, very soon,” he said.

The school operates a cashless biometric system within the dining room for its 986 pupils, who are between the ages of 11 and 18, including 162 sixth form students.

Head teacher and former St Paul’s pupil Dr Dawn Casserley said: “I am extremely proud of our school and our hard working, highly motivated staff and pupils. This is an excellent example a distinctive educational experience for our girls.”

AiP’s contracts now total 160, with a turnover of £13m. The company recently won the Gold Food For Life Award for the second year running for its work with 26 schools within the London Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
