Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic alfresco dining has grown in popularity as consumers seek food-to-go offerings in an outdoor setting. The food huts aim to provide visitors with convenient and filling treats as they enjoy a rest from travelling.
Visitors to 11 of Roadchef’s service areas across the UK will be able to enjoy a range of meal options including Cornish pasties and savoury treats from Phat Pasty, noodles from Chozen Noodle, New York bakery bagels as well as Krispy Kreme doughnuts from Garden Square Deli.
Howard Lockwood, catering & brand development director at Roadchef, commented: “We’re anticipating a busy summer ahead as travellers take to the roads and visitor numbers increase. Our new food huts provide even more options for those looking for a tasty treat to enjoy as they stop and de-stress at one of our regional sites or if they just need a grab-and-go option on the way to their staycation.
“Visitors can enjoy our outdoor spaces, whether they are travelling on their own for business or on a day out with family and friends. From a business point of view, it is also interesting to see how these outlets perform and which are the most appealing to our customers. Feedback will be extremely useful to us in helping to inform potential new offerings within the main site building in the future.”
Roadchef predicts there will be a ‘surge’ during August as the hospitality sector gains momentum and domestic travel rises as more people opt for a staycation rather than a holiday abroad.
