Abstract
Richard Sykes has been appointed as the new chief executive of ISS UK, the British arm of global facilities and property services outsourcing company ISS A/S.
He joins ISS from Carillion Facilities Management, where he was managing director of Carillion plc's facilities services business. David Openshaw, ISS's regional chief executive for Ireland, North America and the Middle East, said: "With extensive experience in leading strategic growth in highly competitive environments, Richard has a proven track record of driving customer experience and organisational change. "He is a well-respected and recognised figure in the outsourcing industry and is currently chairman of the Facilities Management Association. "ISS has found the ideal leader for its UK business, which employs 43,000 people, and we are confident that Richard will maintain the market gains that ISS is making." Sykes began his career with Taylor Woodrow as a graduate before gaining an MBA and becoming the director of its services business. He joined Carillion FM in 2009 leading a team which worked across a variety of public and private sector customers. He added: "I am thrilled to be joining a company with the scale and heritage of ISS. Having competed and partnered with it in the past, I am relishing the chance to play a key part in its growing success. "Outsourcing is an increasingly viable option for many organisations and ISS is extremely well positioned to capitalise on its global delivery platform, integrated approach and motivated workforce." ISS UK clients include the McLaren Group, Carlsberg, Camden Council, Transport for London, the NHS, the Ministry of Defence and Royal Bank of Scotland.
