The South East regional final of LACA’s School Chef of the Year 2014, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been won by Alison Dombrick. She works at Bentley Primary School.
Employed by HC3S on behalf of Hampshire County Council, she completes the line-up for this year’s competition and will now go forward to the final at the Defence Foodservices School, Worthy Down in Hampshire on May 21st.
At Brooklands College today (March 18th), her winning dishes were a main course of ‘shepherd’s pie with a twist’ (lamb mince with lentils and carrots topped with mash & sweet potato mash), followed by dessert of ‘courgette muffin served with an apricot crème fraiche’ (moist sponge with courgette & sweet sultanas).
The highly commended main course award went to Liz Sutcliffe, who works at Sandcross Primary School for Surrey Commercial Services on behalf of Surrey County Council. She served ‘forager’s feast’ (forager’s casserole with summer roasted vegetable, pea puree, potato and apple rosti with mini Yorkshire).
The highly commended dessert award went to Sekwila Mudenda, who works at Chadwell St Mary Primary School for Havering & Thurrock Catering Services on behalf of Thurrock Council. She served ‘fruit infused choux bun’ (fruit infused choux bun with strawberry coulis).
