The London regional final of LACA’s School Chef of the Year 2014, sponsored by Maggi from Nestlé Professional, has been won by Shereene Weston. She works at St Mary Magdelen Catholic Primary School.

Employed by Chartwells on behalf of the London Borough of Lewisham, she will now go forward to the final at the Defence Foodservices School, Worthy Down in Hampshire on May 21st.

At Croydon College on February 27th, her winning dishes were a main course of ‘sticky kicky chicken’ (spicy free range chicken thigh with roti bread, healthy slaw, sweet potato wedges and pepper and lime salsa), followed by dessert of ‘On Yer Nut Tart’ (a smooth creamy spiced coconut and ginger tart with exotic fruits).

The highly commended main course award went to Theraza Tray, who works at Discovery School for GSPlus on behalf of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. She served ‘rustic Moroccan lamb meatballs’ (lamb meatballs with rich and rustic tomato sauce, fresh vegetable cous cous and homemade flat bread).

The highly commended dessert award went to Adrienne Williams, who works at Beam Primary School for the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. She served chocolate and banana bread & butter pudding (a rich moist dessert with the added benefits of wholemeal bread and bananas).
