Research finds alarming salt levels in fast food restaurants

19th Oct 2007 - 00:00
Abstract
A new report from Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH) has surveyed four of the UK's most popular and well-known fast food restaurants, revealing “…shockingly high levels of salt.”
Jo Butten, CASH Nutritionist advises: "Opt for meals without added cheese and bacon and remember that drinks such as milkshakes and desserts including cheesecake and muffins can contribute quite a lot to your salt intake." Speaking to the BBC, Pizza Hut hit back saying: "Every sensible parent knows that Pizza Hut is an enjoyable treat and we have significantly reduced the salt levels in our products over the past few years."
