Carried out by LACA as part of National School Meals Week, the six-month poll saw caterers, parents and pupils vote for their school meal, with curry and rice coming out on top.
To inspire schools to serve more meat-free dishes, the brand new recipe booklet features dishes such as tandoori fillets with vegetable pilau; Quorn Korma; tikka pizza; katsu curry, biryani with root vegetable curry; and sicy naan-wich.
Head of foodservice at Quorn Phil Thornborrow, said: “Quorn is delighted to learn that curry and rice is the nation’s number one school meal at a time when it is enabling meal planners and chefs to provide pupils with an array of great-tasting, meat free curry meals.
“The advantage of serving pupils Quorn-based curries is that the meals are not only better for them, they are better for the planet too.
“It also enables ease of behaviour change, encouraging meat reduction by offering children their favourite meals meat-free.”
