Abstract
Public Sector Catering will be celebrating the third edition of its Plant-Based Week from 15-19th May, this time with a new feature in which individual caterers, catering teams and organisations are encouraged to ‘Be A Plant-Based Food Hero’.

There will again be toolkits available that caterers can use to promote the week and share details of plant-based menu options with their customers and service users.

Plant-Based Week business partners and supporters will be sharing recipe ideas and inspiration and there will be a review of some of the best new products available to support caterers.

The provision of plant-based meals continues to grow across the UK and in the public sector in particular. This is driven both by demand from the ‘customer’ and by the Government’s environmental and obesity agendas which support a more plant-based diet.

Plant-Based Week has been a focus for public sector caterers wanting to understand more about the benefits of plant-based food on the menu and the variety of options open to them for the last three years. It also gives them tools to share that information with their customers.

Along with the overall theme of ‘Be A Plant-Based Food Hero’, each day of the week will have a different focus, looking at the benefits of a plant-based diet, at the people who are creating interesting and innovative menus, as well as how using plant-based ingredients can actually cut food costs.

The daily themes include:

  • Monday – Impact on the planet, how becoming a plant-based hero can help the environment
  • Tuesday – Cost-saving benefits, how becoming a plant-based hero can save money
  • Wednesday – Public Sector Catering will be joined by key advocates of plant-based food, for the Plant-Based Heroes webinar to discuss its benefits and how to serve up the best solutions.  REGISTER FREE
  • Thursday – Hero products, the supplier heroes
  • Friday – Plant-Based Hero day
