Abstract
Public Sector Catering will host a webinar on 11 March at 11:00am to investigate whether hot school meals should become a compulsory service.
After the first lockdown the full hot meals service took months to return and was still only at an estimated 80-85% by Christmas.
David Foad, editor of Public Sector Catering, will be asking the ‘four nations’ how and when we should aim to return to 100% hot meals after the current lockdown.
The panel for the webinar includes:
- England - Stephen Forster, national chair of LACA
- Northern Ireland - Stephen Briggs, head of service - Catering, Education Authority of Northern Ireland
- Scotland - Jayne Jones, chair of ASSIST
- Wales - Judith Gregory, regional chair of LACA Wales
In Autumn 2020 many school caterers adopted LACA’s Hot’ober campaign to get their children eating ‘hot food’ again. LACA’s latest initiative – 'Marching Back To School' – has been created to encourage conversations between caterers, on site staff and parents, to facilitate the return of hot lunches as soon as everyone feels it safe to do so.
