Public Sector Catering Expo gears up for 15 March opening

Abstract
Business leaders, senior catering directors and managers from across the public sector will be gathering at the NEC in Birmingham tomorrow (March 15th) for the two-day, free-to-attend Public Sector Catering Expo.

The industry event, which will feature a virtual address by Defra Minister Victoria Prentis, who will outline the Government’s vision for public sector food and catering, the proposed changes to this policy area and how caterers can share their views on the new proposals.

There is also a keynote address from TV wildlife presenter Chris Packham on why the UK ‘must hit net-zero targets’ on carbon emissions.

He will explain how changing the construction of menus, sourcing more locally and educating customers can all contribute to achieving the global goals.

There will also be a ‘State of the Industry’ panel discussion involving the heads of all the UK’s major catering organisations covering schools, hospitals, the care sector, prisons, universities, the military and catering colleges.

Alongside all this there will run a major exhibition from the all the sector’s key suppliers and, of course, the start of Exercise Joint Caterer, the premier showcase competition for the UK military’s chefs and caterers.
