This year’s Public Sector Catering Expo, taking place at NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire on the 31st October to the 1st November, will involve caterers from across the four nations who help to feed the nation healthy, nutritious and sustainable food.
Leading experts and commentators from across the sector will discuss the key issues and topics facing public sector caterers in a series of free to attend seminar sessions which are open to everyone and will run throughout the two-day event.
The Expo, which is free to attend, is the only national event to bring together chefs and caterers from across all areas of the public sector – from schools to hospitals, universities, catering colleges, the social care sector, and prisons through to the military.
Professor Tim Spector will be offering his views on health and nutrition and how his work could help public sector caterers manage client diets in the future. Gregg Wallace, best known for co-presenting the MasterChef series of shows for the BBC, will deliver a keynote speech on day two of the PSC Expo.
The Public Sector Catering Kitchen will feature cookery demonstrations from current LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) Raheem Morgan, Kath Breckon from Unilever and the 2023 NACC Care Chef of the Year winner Brian Preston. The Vegetarian Society will also give a cookery demonstration on day one of the PSC Expo.
The PSC Expo, which is the third edition of the event, includes a central exhibition area where you can meet with the key associations representing the public sector catering industry. Exercise Joint Caterer will once again take place at the PSC Expo, the flagship event for Armed Forces chefs and catering teams. It is a showcase of skills and challenges chefs at the highest level, demonstrating the role military caterers play in the delivery of an effective armed force.
A State of the Nation panel discussion will take place on day two of the Public Sector Catering Expo to highlight common topics and issues facing caterers across the public sector. The panellists will look at how collaboration and joint action, including liaison with Government on topics such as procurement, food standards and sustainability, can benefit the industry and its customers.
An in-depth look at the public sector foodservice market - with data, insight and analysis - is being launched at the Expo. The Expo features have been specially developed to engage with contacts at all levels from chief executives, through to unit catering managers and chefs.
Within the public sector, almost three billion meals are served each year and with that figure forecast to continue growing we must, as an industry, come together and support those individuals and companies that work within it.
