Abstract
The focus of debate at the PS100 Group and YPO foodservice seminar will be anticipating the major challenges facing public sector catering now and in the near future.

Taking place at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre at the Madejski Stadium in Reading, the conference session will be chaired by Andy Jones of the PS100 Group.

On the panel will be Michael Hales, chair of LACA and managing director at Juniper Ventures, the ‘externalised business’ organisation rolled out by the London Borough of Newham to supply school catering and cleaning.

They will be joined by Craig Smith, national vice chairman of the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) and head of corporate affairs at ISS Facilities Services.

Also taking his place will be Owen Sidaway, head of prison catering and physical education with National Offender Management Services.

And David Nuttall, a non-executive director of The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) and catering manager at Harper Adams University, will be offering the perspective of the higher education sector.

The key issues they will address include:

* What are the biggest issues are affecting your industry sector at the moment (besides Brexit)?

* What things do you fear/look forward to in the future that might make delivering your service more difficult?

* What do caterers need to do to support catering suppliers, manufacturers and distributors and what do they need to do to support you more?

* Are there barriers in the catering industry that complicate the purchasing process?

They will also discuss how the public sector could benefit from greater collaboration in purchasing and lobbying, with Jo Marshall, executive director of YPO delivering a session on ‘purchasing in the public sector’.
