The online workshop will demonstrate how to prepare simple, inexpensive, nutritionally balanced and most importantly tasty plant-based recipes that children will enjoy. School Plates is the flagship programme of ProVeg UK that delivers menu change across UK schools to improve the health of children and the planet.
The workshop will cover a short introduction to the School Plates programme, discuss why it’s important to offer sustainable school meals and explore how to use plant-based ingredients in recipes.
Recently it was announced that Chris Packham had joined ProVeg UK’s ‘pioneering’ School Plates programme as an ambassador to urge schools to introduce more plant-based options on their lunch menus.
All of the recipes adhere to the School Food Standards as well as being cost effective and climate friendly. In the workshop ProVeg will demonstrate the following recipes:
- Zesty Lemon Rice(VE)
- French-Style Ratatouille(VE)
- Toad-In-The-Hole(VE)
- Pearl Barley Risotto with Sweet Roasted Roots(VE)
