Abstract
Chefs working in the public sector are getting the chance to be recognised and rewarded for the work they do thanks to a new competition from EBLEX.
The company is challenging cooks to create inspirational recipes using Halal-compliant beef and lamb in return for a shot at winning a luxury weekend break for two. And to be in with a chance, entrants must hurry because the deadline for entries is 29 October. EBLEX is looking for recipes that are currently being served up by publlc sector caterers and is encouraging keen cooks of Halal beef and lamb to put forward their own signature dishes. Entrants can come from the education sector (catering for schools and colleges), the armed services or healthcare (for hospitals and care homes). Hugh Judd, EBLEX foodservice project manager said: "Professional cooks in the public sector continue to serve up nutritious, tasty meals under increasing time and budgetary pressures. "We want to recognise those achievements and showcase some of the finest beef and lamb recipes that have been developed over the years and that continue to satisfy diners, from pupils to patients." "There is no limit to the number of recipes that can be entered, the only stipulations are that they must use assured beef or lamb, be Halal-compliant and ideal for cost sector catering budgets." The winning entry, which will be selected by a panel of judges, will be named the Pride of the Public Sector winner and be featured on the foodservice section of the EBLEX website.
