Trevor Garden, Prestige Scotland's head chef, has been named Contract Catering Chef of the Year in the Catering in Scotland Excellence Awards.
In addition, Alan Tonks, the executive chef of Sodexo Scotland, was short-listed in the Contract Catering Chef of the Year category at the awards ceremony at the Glasgow Hilton. Garden has created the menus for the Official Hospitality at The Open Championships at St Andrews this year. Earlier in the year, he worked for Sodexo's Canadian division at the athletes' village at the Winter Olympics in Whistler and Vancouver, Canada, while in the UK, he has worked on major events such as Six Nations Rugby and Uefa Cup Final. He said: "I am delighted to have won this award and to be recognised by my peers within the industry," said Garden. "My focus will continue to be on providing the best quality food and service to our customers. This year I have further developed our relationships with local Scottish suppliers and this will be reflected throughout our seasonal menus." Austin Tilsley, regional director for Prestige Scotland, added: "This award regonises the tremendous work Trevor and his team have done to develop the food offers for Prestige Scotland. The creativity and passion that Trevor shows for our industry is fantastic and has helped grow our business and move into new markets."
