Abstract
The company's core business is supplying first-rate produce to some of London's finest restaurants, but Reach Food Service owner Murtaza Lakhani has switched the company's focus during lockdown ‘to feeding those who need it most'.

Customers of Reach My Kitchen, the business's new home delivery service, are also helping the cause: for each hamper sold, Reach will donate £2, split between The Felix Project and Hospitality Action, who offer vital assistance to the worst-hit industry professionals.

In addition Reach has donated £10,000 in cash and £200,000 in fresh produce to The Felix Project, the London-based food charity coping with a 300% spike in demand from its clients, vulnerable adults, children and families.

It has also donated £250,000 of fresh produce to The Caring Foundation, helping them reach their goal of cooking 50,000 meals a week for NHS workers and vulnerable people throughout the community.

On top of this, Reach is also offering cold storage and logistical support to several food charities, and even buying up stock from struggling distributors to donate to The Felix Project. By end-May, Reach had donated more than 130 tonnes of food to charitable causes.

Says Lakhani: " Far from being a 'great leveller', the coronavirus crisis has had a particularly devasting impact on the capital’s frontline workers alongside its elderly, impoverished and vulnerable. We are extremely pleased that we have been able to use our Group resources to help these sectors at this critical time.”

Priced from just £32, the hampers contain the same top-notch seafood, poultry and meat that would, in normal times, have graced the tables of Zuma, Roka, Hide and Hakkasan.

Commented Abbas Lalljee, founder and CEO of Reach: “Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our team, we had a successful trial up-and-running inside a week, and we are now sending out hundreds of hampers each day. Supporting our industry and community through this time is incredibly important: through each home delivery, we’re delighted to be able to give back to those who need our help the most.”
